Pre-Season Rankings Are Out!

If you are interested in learning where we stack up against other teams in the state, check here.

In addition, here is our training schedule for next week:

Aug. 2 Monday: FCHS 8:00 – 4:00 PM – We will run, lift, eat lunch, team meeting, team building, video and afternoon run. Bring a towel to shower after morning workout and $5 for lunch. This will be a fun day!

Aug. 3 Tuesday: SeWay Park 6 – 8 PM – This will be a hard workout – bring plenty of water!

Aug. 4 Wednesday Same as Monday – More team building and fun!

Aug. 5 Thursday: Same as Tuesday bring plenty of water – it will be a hard day!

Aug. 6 Friday: 8 – 10 AM at FCHS – light run and Frisbee!

Aug. 7 Saturday: 9 – 11 AM – I would like to invite all the parents to come out to SeWay Park and watch our practice. This will give you an idea what the boys do each day. Additionally this will give parents an opportunity to meet one another. I will provide parents with doughnuts and juice! The boys will be running repeats so they will be in your site most of the practice. We will have a short team meeting at 10:45 and we will be done by 11:00 AM. This is the first time we have tried this – let’s hope it goes well!

I am not sure of our schedule the following week. This will be determined soon.

Remember all boys need a physical by Monday August 2nd and every practice is mandatory. I must know in advance about an absence – work is an unexcused absence. Unexcused absences will result in a loss of a meet or termination from the team. Attendance will be closely monitored this season.

FCXC Golf Outing!

Please read the following message from the other coaches and I. If you would like to attend, please email me at brian.dunn@ftcsc.k12.in.us and I will email you the entry form.

Friends of the Franklin Central Cross-Country Program:

Greetings! Believe it or not I am starting my 19th year has head cross-country coach at Franklin Central High School. As a coach I cannot begin to thank each and every one of you and your families for your devotion to our program. I truly am proud of all the boys and girls that have been part of the program. We have all worked hard to build a program that is top-notch each and every year.

You’re probably aware of cuts in education funding across the board in the State of Indiana. This, in addition to the unsuccessful passing of the Franklin Township referendum, has affected FCXC greatly. Athletics will now be on a “Pay to Play” basis. In addition, funding for our assistant coaches has been cut. These men are absolutely invaluable to our success.

For years we’ve batted around the idea of an FCXC Alumni event. Now seems like the best time to launch! Please join us for a day of fun and golf while re-connecting with past runners and parents and meeting the current team:

The First Annual FCXC Golf Outing
Thursday, July 29, 2010
12:00 Noon
The Links Golf Course
11425 N PR Links Lane
New Palestine, IN 46163

The standard entry fee is $50 per player, or student discount of $40 for individuals currently enrolled at Franklin Central High School. All participants are eligible to participate in a raffle for some great prizes and additional raffle tickets are available for purchase at the event (1 - $5, 3 - $10). We will play a scramble format and will host “Closest to the Pin” and “Longest Drive” contests. All proceeds will benefit the cross-country team. In particular, the money raised will go toward participation fees for those who cannot afford them, team uniforms and assistant coaches’ stipends.

In addition to golfing, we ask you to consider sponsoring a hole. Individual/Corporate sponsorships are available for $100. You may also consider gathering up your class to sponsor a hole. Please refer to the attached reservation form for further details. Please work quickly as reservations are due to Cory Ferguson (’99) no later than Wednesday, July 21st. If you do not submit a foursome you will be paired with a group. Our goal is to have all eighteen holes filled with foursomes, so spread the word to FCXC athletes past and present along with your friends, family members, co-workers, neighbors, etc.

Thank you for your consideration and dedication to our program!

Most Sincerely,

Coach Kellison – Coach Dunn (‘00) – Coach Robinson (‘03) – Cory Ferguson (‘99)
